Contract price of DDR2 memory chip rose almost 14 percent in the first half of this month due to shortage of these chips.
That's according to DRAM Exchange, which said the current benchmark price of 41 USD , up from 36 USD
Analysts argue that the company DDR2 contract prices tend to rise during the last month.
DRAM producers want the next generation of memory, DDR3 replace DDR2, and it would have finished doing for some time ago.
DRAM Exchange said that PC OEMs began to adopt DDR3 memory chips due to high prices and the "scarcity" DDR2 chip.
Finally DDR3 will replace DDR2 memory, and DRAM Exchange is still in the planning, maybe a little bit optimistic that this plan will occur at the end of the first quarter of next year.
