
NAIROBI - Language contained in the latest operating system besutan Microsoft, Windows 7, will be translated into 10 languages of Africa. Menningkatkan efforts to use Windows 7 as well as fighting piracy.
Ten languages are planned to be realized in 2011 that is the language of Sesotho sa Leboa, Setswana, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Afrikaans, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Kiswahili and Amharic.
"This is related to technology access in the African continent to be more familiar with the context and language so as to solve the bottleneck for this to happen," said Mark Matunga, Manager of Microsoft Eastern and Southern Africa, as quoted by PC World, Monday (11/30/2009) .
So far, the language used in the world of African technology is English and French. Sometimes it is difficult for African communities to understand these languages.
"The presence of windows translations into local languages 7 ensures users in Africa to better express the idea even for the blogs, news sites, and emails," said Francis Hook, IDC East Africa Manager.
Language translation into local languages, according to Hook, also can help the African people towards the era of globalization. With the local language, the African community can follow the issues out and expresses his opinion through the local language.
Countries like Tanzania will be able to use Kiswahili language in MS Office, while Ethiopia will use the language of Amharic. "Language has the power to give an overview to each person for a product and the Internet, people want these products represent the community," said linguist University of Nairobi, Hezron Mogambi.
